A Hummingbird Hills home received extensive damage after a fire on Saturday morning.

The home, at 220 Hummingbird Hills, suffered damage to the main floor and attic area and water damage to
the basement, according to Mike Teague with Boone Fire Department. Dollar loss estimates are in excess of $400,000 for the structure and contents.

Fire crews were dispatched out at 7:31 am to the single family dwelling. The fire was controlled at 8:08am. Crews remain on the scene as of Saturday afternoon, according to Teague, to continue to extinguish hot spots.

Fire Investigators with the Boone Fire Department and the Watauga County Fire Marshal’s Office were able to determine the fire originated in the living room and then extended through the structure on the main floor.

The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation. Teague also added that the Boone Fire Department would like to thank Boone Police Department, Watauga Medics and Watauga Fire Marshal’s Office for their assistance.
