The lower end of Elk Creek Road is blocked at Jakes Mountain Road according to Watauga County Communications office. An 18 wheeler is crossways in the road and it's anticipated to be an extended amount of time before a wrecker can get on scene. The road was blocked off by Deep Gap Fire Department in the 6am hour.
Update – Just before 9am Watauga County Communications reported that the roadway was passable again.
