“We are officially putting asphalt down on the first major repair of Highway 421 between Boone and Mountain City Tennessee.”. That's the announcement from Maymead this evening (Friday October 18, 2024).
“This is a huge accomplishment and the first major milestone towards getting 421 opened back up.”, their statement went on to say.
421 remains closed between Trade and Mountain City Tennessee, but Maymead stated they are steadily making progress with their partners. That section of highway suffered heavy damage due to Hurricane Helene.
Baker's Construction Services, the company that repaired the road, posted a video on Facebook showing the progress of which you can see below.
