Old Watauga High School Site Up For Consideration To Ease ASU Thursday Night Football Games Parking

The old Watauga High School site could possibly help ease the logistics of an upcoming situation facing officials with Appalachian State regarding Thursday night football games. In June it was announced that two ASU games would be played on Thursday night this season. The games against Georgia Southern, which takes place on October 22nd, and Arkansas State, on November 5th, will kick off at 7:30pm at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Both games will air nationally on ESPNU.

Officials with ASU and the Town of Boone have been working to develop a plan to address parking and traffic related issues, both on campus and in Boone. According to an agenda item for the Watauga County Commissioners for Tuesday morning, a request has been made to use the old WHS property. The weeknight games will be the 3rd and 4th in Kidd Brewer Stadium history, the first since 2008, and the first since ASU became a member of the Sun Belt.
