For the first time since December, the High Country has a full week weather forecast that does not include the possibility of snow. In the Sunday evening (March 6) weather briefing, the National Weather Service notes that “a warm front will pass over the region on Monday bringing warmer than normal temperatures that will last through the rest of the week.” With high temperatures in Boone forecast to be in the mid 60s for much of the week, there is the chance that March 10 & 11 could flirt with breaking into the Top 5 warmest for those dates.
The High Country will not totally dodge precipitation this week, but it will be rain and not snow. Rain chances enter the forecast for Friday night and into the weekend. Boone precipitation data for the year shows January recorded 3.05 inches and 7.71 inches for February, making it the 2nd wettest February since 1980.
