RALEIGH – N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles offices in most of the state will be closed on Monday due to Hurricane Florence. Offices in north central and northeastern North Carolina are expected to open on a normal schedule Monday.
Some NCDMV offices could remain closed for several days, depending on the conditions in areas most affected by Florence, which has already forced the closure of hundreds of roads in North Carolina as it continues its slow trek westward.
A list of affected offices can be found on the office locations page of the official NCDMV website. Individuals are urged to check the status of any driver license office or license plate agency they plan to visit before heading out.
NCDMV’s main call center, located in Bladen County, closed last week. Calls are being directed to other areas of North Carolina, where call centers are operating with limited staff. Customers may experience longer wait times when calling the Customer Service Center.
Many DMV services, including renewing driver licenses, ordering duplicate ID cards or renewing vehicle registrations are available online at MyNCDMV.gov. Individuals in areas where offices are closed, or extremely busy, are encouraged to utilize DMV online services.
Once regular services resume, drivers who have appointments at the affected driver license offices will be contacted to reschedule their appointment.
