Married Couple Found Dead in Deep Gap Home, Investigation Continues

The investigation continues into the deaths of a married couple found in a Deep Gap home.

Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman tells WataugaOnline.com that on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 10 pm, a 911 call was received and the caller stated that he had found his brother and sister-in-law deceased.

Deputies, along with Watauga Medics and Deep Gap Fire, responded to 172 Born Again Drive and found two deceased individuals in the home.

The individuals were identified as Douglass Allen Watson, age 57, and Elizabeth Case Watson, age 57, according to Sheriff Hagaman.

Upon initial investigation, both individuals appear to have suffered gunshot wounds. The incident is believed to be domestic in nature; however the investigation is still ongoing.

Sheriff Hagaman also expressed, “During this difficult time, our thoughts are with the Watson family during this tragic loss.”
