Lowering of the US and NC Flags to half-staff through sunset on February 9, 2019 in honor of the passing of Rep. Dingell

Update – The lowering of flags has been extended until Sunday to include the passing of the Principal Chief of the Meherrin Nation 

Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered immediately to half-staff in tribute to former Representative John David Dingell, Jr. of Michigan. Rep. Dingell, Jr. is the longest serving member of Congress in our nation's history. Representative Dingell passed away Thursday night at the age of 92.

Flags should remain at half-staff through sunset on February 9, 2019.
