The Indianapolis Colts have officially signed Boone native Anderson Castle and waived running back Jordon Vaughn, the team announced Monday — marking Castle's first formal roster move as a professional player and confirming his spot on the team's offseason roster.

Castle, 5-foot-11 and 221 pounds, signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. The move makes his signing official on the team's roster and comes at the expense of Vaughn, who had been signed as an undrafted free agent on May 7.

A product of Watauga High School in Boone, Castle played college football at Appalachian State from 2020 through 2024 before transferring to Duke for his final season in 2025. Across 68 career games — including three starts — he compiled 308 carries for 1,524 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 36 passes for 252 yards and one receiving touchdown, giving him 21 total touchdowns in his college career.

In his final season at Duke, Castle appeared in all 14 games and totaled 115 carries for 488 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground, adding 17 receptions for 111 yards through the air.

Castle is the first player from Watauga High School to reach an NFL roster in recent memory.
