An ASU student was arrested last night after a violent home invasion robbery and another suspect is sought by police.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 15th, Boone Police were called to a Coffey Street apartment address. The residents there had been attacked in their home by two masked men armed with a club and a hammer, demanding money and drugs. The residents were joined by neighbors in fighting off both intruders and subduing one of the attackers until police arrived. The second suspect escaped and remains at large. One resident of the apartment transported himself to Watauga Medical Center with minor injuries.

The detained suspect was identified as Travis Dean Edgerton, age 20 and an ASU student from Chapel Hill. Edgerton was charged with felony burglary, felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken before a Watauga County magistrate, and then held in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond with a December 18, 2012 court date.

Boone Police are continuing the investigation and are working to identify the second suspect.
