Heavy Rain To End The Weekend, Localized Flooding Possible

Moderate to heavy rain could lead to localized flooding as the weekend comes to an end, according to The National Weather Service. In a Saturday afternoon update, NWS says that rainfall amounts Sunday through Monday night are expected to average between 1.50 and 2.00 inches, with locally higher amounts over 2.50 inches possible along the crest of the Blue Ridge and other higher peaks.

Thunderstorms, a few strong, could occur on Sunday and into early Monday. Winds will noticeably pick up too, with gust forecast to reach up to 40 mph on Monday afternoon.
