Heavy Police Presence In Downtown Boone After Reported Armed Robbery

UPDATE 11:10am Friday April 28 from Boone Police 

On Thursday, April 27, 2017, Boone Police responded to 137 Stoneybrook Court in reference to an Armed Robbery. It was reported that subjects robbed a victim at gunpoint.

 Following leads, resident sightings, and other investigative work, police were able to take three suspects into custody:

(2) counts of Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, (2) counts of Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and (1) count of Misdemeanor Assault of a Female.

(2) counts of Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, (2) counts of Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and (1) count of Misdemeanor Assault of a Female.

(2) counts of Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, (2) counts of Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

 Each subject was assigned a court date of June 1st, 2017 and held on a $100,000 secured bond.

 Boone Police continue to investigate this incident. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Boone Police Department and ask for Detective Jason Reid.

 “Today Boone Police officers responded to a dangerous and evolving situation that led to the arrest of three individuals for Armed Robbery and many other charges.  Many of our sister agencies assisted in the pursuit and apprehension of these suspects.

I am very proud of the determination and dedication of our officers to see this case through to its conclusion, which may take several more days.  Our number one priority is to keep the citizens of Boone safe.   Our officers worked tirelessly to day to make sure that happened.

I would like to thank the Watauga County Sheriff's Office,  ASU Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigations for their help and support.”


Three suspects, who reportedly robbed occupants of a Stoneybrook Court apartment, were apprehended after a lengthy afternoon chase in Boone on Thursday.

Officers with Boone Police, Watauga County Sheriff's Office, ASU Police and K-9s from Boone Police and the Sheriff's Office spent nearly four hours chasing the suspects as they manage to spread out.

Officers were able to detain one vehicle as it was leaving the scene but the chase began in downtown Boone near the courthouse, before spreading to the Junaluska area, old Watauga High School area and along 105 as far as Ingles, then continuing onto Snaggy Mountain and Russ Cornett Road areas. The final suspect was apprehended shortly after 5pm. No additional suspects are sought in the incident, according to Boone Police.

The story is still developing and will be updated as more information is provided by Boone Police on Friday morning.

UPDATE 4:38pm from Boone Police:

An armed robbery occurred in the Stoneybrook Court area of Boone on Thursday afternoon, and the search for suspects crossed Boone.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday April 27, residents of an apartment on Stoneybrook Court reported they had been robbed at gunpoint at their residence.  Responding officers detained one suspect as he was leaving in a vehicle, but two additional suspects were seen by witnesses fleeing the area on foot.  A sighting of the suspects in the area of NC Highway 105 near old High School drive resulted in a second suspect being apprehended.  Officers are actively searching the wooded areas there for the third suspect.


UPDATE 4:35pm from Boone Police – search for the third robbery suspect is occurring in the area of 105 S, avoid the area, suspect may be armed.


UPDATE 4:30pm from Boone Police – Regarding earlier armed robbery near Stoneybrook Ct, two suspects now in custody, search still on for a third.


A heavy police presence in downtown Boone this afternoon, as they are looking for suspects in a reported armed robbery at a apartment complex on the west side of town. As of 4:03pm the search is ongoing in and around Boone.

Boone Police received a call of an armed robbery off campus at an apartment complex on the West side of town. Law Enforcement is on scene investigating the incident. One suspect is in custody and Boone Police are looking for 2 other suspects that could possibly be armed. At this time we do not have a description of the suspects and more updates will be sent out once information is received. If you see any suspicious activity or persons please call 911 or University Police.
