While High Country residents and visitors were bundled up due to single digit temperatures and wind chills below zero, some of the animals on Grandfather Mountain didn't seem to mind it.
The North American river otters, named Oscar and Nova, appear to be enjoying the snow and cold on Monday. Sunday morning temperatures on the mountain dipped to at least 5 below, with a wind chill of 38 below, which is well above the record cold temperature of -32 recorded in 1985.
Photos below show the conditions on the mountain on Sunday.
