Here’s some of the overnight reports that came in:

“Sleeting and freezing rain topped with a layer of snow. The fun started around 2 AM at 4:30 AM 32 degrees.”

“2 AM and it's quit sleeting in Todd. Now we're getting freezing rain on top of the sleet. Whole yard is nice and shiny from ice.”

“2:15am. It snowing in banner elk… pretty heavy right now”

“3:49 am West Jefferson Everything seems to be covered in sleet.”

5:20am – seeing reports of some icy areas, and scattered fog reports. Careful on porches/walkways etc this morning

Most of the area schools are closed, see the list here

6:05am – via facebook “Roads are little slushy and dense fog towards Vilas”

So far not hearing of any major problem areas but allow extra travel time. 31 degrees in Boone at 6:15am

via facebook at 6:30am -  From Deep Gap to Boone, just foggy and wet roads, raining

Via Facebook – 6:30. Wet 421 from Deep Gap, foggy. Bamboo from 421 is pretty good but a couple snow/sleet covered spots on corners. Wilson's Ridge is wet but at top down to Deerfield there are a few slick spots. Deerfield is good in the S bends. Bamboo by the airport is fine. Few lightly covered spots. All in all, pretty good conditions.

Winter Weather Advisory expires at 10am.

Currently there are no operations scheduled on 321 in Blowing Rock due to weather. Slow down, stay alert. For more info, call 828-964-3260.

10:30am – Fog is still thick on 421 about half way between Deep Gap and Boone with limited visibility.
