Flooding cancels NASCAR All-Star Saturday events

NASCAR All-Star Saturday events were canceled late in the afternoon as heavy rains and flooding occurred at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Events were postponed at least twice earlier in the day due to lightning near the track.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning at 4:48 pm. According to social media reports, “4:30 pm – 600 block of Speedway Rd. Trees and powerlines down. Scanner report.,…several trees down on Speedway Rd. 4:00 pm Street Flooding – North Wilkesboro – Wilkesboro Ave by Memorial Park.”

Here is the updated schedule, as of 6:15 pm Saturday, for Sunday from NASCAR:

Saturday's Wright Brand 250 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race has been postponed to 11:30 a.m. ET Sunday.  Saturday's All-Star Heat Races have been canceled. 

Saturday and Sunday tickets will be honored on Sunday. Saturday ticket holders receive priority seating for the Truck Series race, and Sunday ticket holders will receive priority seating for the Cup races in cases of same-seat purchases.

Parking lots / Fan Zone open – 9:00 a.m. 

Entry gates open – 10:00 a.m.

Wright Brand 250 – 11:30 a.m.

Warren Zeiders Concert – 2:00 p.m.

Trackside Live – 3:45 p.m.

NASCAR All-Star Open – 5:30 p.m.

NASCAR All-Star Race – 8:00 p.m.

Sunday's Speedway Children's Charities Track Walk and Track Rides have been canceled.
