…FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 AM EDT THIS MORNING…

  • WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • WHERE…Portions of northwest North Carolina and southwest
    Virginia, including the following counties, in northwest North
    Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes. In southwest
    Virginia, Grayson.
  • WHEN…Until 1130 AM EDT.
  • IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
  • At 946 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  • This includes the following streams and drainages…
    Beech Creek, Bee Tree Branch, Beaverdam Creek, Beaver Creek,
    Bear Branch, Basin Creek and Big Horse Creek.
