…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM EDT THIS EVENING…
- WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
- WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the
following counties, Ashe and Watauga. - WHEN…Until 745 PM EDT.
- IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of
water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. - ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
- At 441 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages…
Norris Fork, Laurel Creek, Flat Branch, Dutch Creek, Little
Dugger Creek, Meat Camp Creek, Brushy Fork, Laurel Fork,
Dugger Creek, Cove Creek, Left Prong Stony Fork, Elk Creek,
South Fork Laurel Creek, Grassy Creek and Craborchard Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
