Boone, Wilkesboro, Yadkinville, Independence, Whitetop,
Troutdale, Volney, Galax, Floyd, and Stuart

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING…

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and southwest
Virginia, including the following areas, in North Carolina,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and
Yadkin. In southwest Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson, and
Patrick.

* Through Saturday morning

* Rainfall averaging one to two inches, with up to five inches in
some locations, is expected to fall through the overnight hours.
A generous portion of it may fall in a relatively short period
of time.

* The heavy rain may prompt streams to leave their banks, rapid
rises of flowing water in naturally low areas, and isolated land
slides.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember…TURN AROUND…DON'T DROWN!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
