Including the cities of West Jefferson, Sparta, Dobson, Danbury,
Boone, Wilkesboro, Yadkinville, Independence, Whitetop,
Troutdale, Volney, Galax, Floyd, and Stuart

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING…

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia, including
the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe,
Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In southwest
Virginia, Carroll, Floyd, Grayson, and Patrick.

* Through Sunday evening

* Rainfall averaging one to two inches, with up to three inches in
some locations, is expected to fall through Sunday. Some of
this rainfall may fall in a relatively short period of time
resulting in flash flooding.

* The heavy rain may prompt creeks and streams to leave their
banks including rapid rises of flowing water in naturally low
areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember…TURN AROUND…DON'T DROWN!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
