…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH THIS
EVENING…

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

  • Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central North Carolina and
    northwest North Carolina, including the following areas, in north
    central North Carolina, Surry. In northwest North Carolina,
    Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin.
  • From Noon EDT today through this evening
  • Numerous slow-moving showers and thunderstorms may produce enough
    heavy rainfall in a short amount of time to result in flash
    flooding.
  • Creeks and streams may come out of their banks and flood roadways
    and possibly some homes and businesses near streams or in
    low-lying areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
