…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON…

  • WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the
    following county, Watauga.
  • WHEN…Until 530 PM EDT.
  • IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
    Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
  • At 326 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
    ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up
    to 2 inches of rain have fallen.
  • This includes the following streams and drainages…
    Grassy Creek, Stony Fork, Flat Branch, South Fork Laurel
    Creek, Elk Creek, Norris Fork, Dugger Creek, South Fork New
    River and Meat Camp Creek.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
