EVENING…
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
- Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina…Virginia and
southeast West Virginia, including the following areas, in North
Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes. In
Virginia, Alleghany VA, Amherst, Appomattox, Bath, Bedford, Bland,
Botetourt, Buckingham, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Craig, Floyd,
Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, Roanoke,
Rockbridge, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe. In southeast West Virginia,
Mercer. - From Noon EDT today through this evening
- Numerous slow moving showers and thunderstorms may produce flash
flooding. - Flash flooding can be expected in areas of quick heavy rainfall
and areas of persistent moderate or heavier rainfall. Storms could
produce 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short period of time.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
