The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southern Alleghany County in northwestern North Carolina…
Central Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina…
Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
Southeastern Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina…

* Until 930 PM EDT

* At 525 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. County officials in Boone were
reporting minor flooding occurring in the typical flood prone
spots including the Boone Mall. The New River IFLOWS river gage
was also seeing sharp responses to recent heavy rainfall.
Additional heavy rains from thunderstorms trails down along the
southern Appalachians and will move into the warned area.
Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Jefferson…
West Jefferson…
Blowing Rock…
and Foscoe.

This includes The following Location Appalachian State University.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
by calling toll free at 1…8 6 6…2 1 5…4 3 2 4. Reports and
