  • Flash Flood Warning for…
    Avery County in western North Carolina…
    Northwestern Burke County in western North Carolina…
    Northwestern Caldwell County in western North Carolina…
  • Until 1000 PM EDT.
  • At 600 PM EDT, As heavy tropical-like thunderstorms continue to
    develop across the warned area this evening, rainfall totals near
    favored elevated locales may top out at 5 or 6 inches. Developing
    flooding of streams and eventually larger rivers in the area is
    likely as the evening wears on.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

    Newland, Blowing Rock In Caldwell County, Banner Elk, Elk Park,
    Beech Mountain In Avery County, Crossnore, Sugar Mountain, Seven
    Devils, B.R. Parkway-Linville Falls To Grandfather, Linville
    Falls, Grandfather Mountain State Park, Table Rock, B.R.
    Parkway-Little Switzerland To Linville, Lake James State Park,
    Lake James, Edgemont, Jonas Ridge, Pineola, Linville and Globe.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
