The first snowfall of the 2017-18 winter season produced enough snow for Boone to record the fourth largest total on the east coast from Friday and Saturday combined.
The report, provided by the National Weather Service (NWS), list Boone at 9 inches, which trailed 9.8 inches at a location in Asheville and 10.5 in Waynesville.
The most during that time period belongs to Mount Mitchell with 25 inches. For the whole list see the graphic below. The two day total for Boone becomes the biggest for a storm since 2010.
