February 2016 will be remembered for both colder temperatures and more precipitation than January produced.

With an average temperature of 32.2  for Boone it became the 7th coldest February between 1980-2016. The coldest February belongs to 1929 overall,  and 2015 for the modern era.

The average minimum temperature of 24.4 degrees is the 15th coldest February since 1980.

Precipitation wise it was the 2nd wettest since 1980 with  7.71 inches recorded.

For the month from the Watauga Medical Center reporting station:

Highest temperature: 61.7 Monday Feb 1
Lowest temperature: 10.04 Sunday Feb 14
Peak Wind Gusts: 62 mph Saturday Feb 13 2:55am
