Emergency personnel respond to recent structure fire & separate gas leak calls

On Friday, October 7, 2021, around 2:30 pm Stewart Simmons Fire, Blowing Rock Fire, Deep Gap Fire, Watauga Medics, and Watauga Fire Marshal's Office responded to a report of a structure fire at 171 Silver Feather Court in Blue Ridge Mountain Club. First responding crews found the fire was in a building under construction and had been extinguished by workers with fire extinguisher. Damage to the building is estimated to be around $50,000, according to Watauga County Fire Marshal Shane Garland.

On Monday, October 11, 2021, around 12:30 pm Cove Creek Fire, Zionville Fire, Foscoe Fire, Boone Fire, Watauga Medics, Watauga Rescue, Watauga County Sheriff's Office and Watauga County Fire Marshal's office responded to 113 Valle View for an LP Gas leak. Responding units were able to contain the leak, according to Watauga County Fire Marshal Shane Garland. Other homes in that area were checked by fire crews for any possible build-up of LP Gas.
