A lane closure is scheduled to take place today in downtown Boone for the installation of the Appalachian Theater marquee.
The marquee for the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country, located at 559 W. King Street, will be installed on Sunday, November 20 starting at 8 pm and concluding at 6 am. There will be no parking in the north side parking spaces between Boone Bagelry and Grand Blvd. 7 pm until 6 am for a work zone lane shift.
Starting at 4:30 pm on Sunday, November 20 empty north side parking spaces will be coned off. Towing may be necessary if cars remain parked in the above mentioned area. The south sidewalk will be closed to through pedestrian traffic in front of Theater during this time as well. The Town of Boone will have signage available to assist with the lane and sidewalk closures.
If the contractor need Monday night to complete installation, the work zone time will be from 9 pm to 6 am. Town staff will adjust “No Parking” signs as needed.
The installation of the Appalachian Theatre marquee is one of the final steps in the replication of the historic exterior appearance of the Theatre.
