Crime Stoppers seeks help in theft of tools & mower from local church

High Country Crime Stoppers and the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office seek the public’s assistance in solving the following crime:

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office requests the assistance of the public in identifying the person/persons responsible for a Breaking and Entering of a place of worship, and larceny. Between the hours of 5 p.m. on 10/6/23 and 9:30 a.m. on 10/8/2023 someone broke into the Unity Baptist Church. This is in the area of Mabel School Rd. During the break-in, the unknown person/persons stole a Kobalt tool box with Kobalt tools inside, and also broke into the storage shed and stole a Greenworks Pro riding lawn mower. Please direct the information to Detective Nathaniel Calvert at 828-265-7621.

High Country Crime Stoppers is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization operated by a volunteer community board of directors serving Avery and Watauga Counties. High Country Crime Stoppers encourages the reporting of information or leads which can assist law enforcement with solving crimes. Its goal is to help in the fight against crime, but it is not part of the local police departments or sheriff's offices. Each County has a law enforcement coordinator who participates as an advisor to the board but is a non-voting member. The citizen's board is responsible for operations of the program, fund raising, public relations, and approval of rewards.
