Residents, visitors and any motorist in the High Country are HIGHLY recommended to allow for PLENTY of extra travel time on Saturday.
Three major events in the area will see the greatest one day increase in traffic than any other given day. The Valle Crucis Fair in Valle Crucis, the Wooly Worm Festival in Banner Elk and a home ASU football game all occur on the same day this year. It's been at least two years since all three events happened on the same Saturday.
Along with one of the final weekends to catch the fall colors, we have gotten word that at Watauga High School on Saturday there are PSAT test, so that will increase traffic in that area too.
Best advice is leave plenty early for your destination, and use a lot of patience.
