Bridge Deck Repairs on Interstate 77 Near Jonesville May Cause Delays

Last Updated on July 9, 2013 2:10 pm

Traffic on both sides of Interstate 77 south of Jonesville in Yadkin County may see delays through Labor Day due to bridge deck repairs near mile marker 71 over North Hunting Creek.

Penhall Company of Riverside, Calif. is performing hydro-demolition work on the surface of the bridge and will replace the deck overlay using a latex modified concrete. Work also includes replacing the guardrails and repairing the bridge expansion joints.

Crews will close one lane in each direction for repairs. Traffic will then shift onto the completed lanes. Currently, the outside lanes are closed in each direction.

Traffic can take the following alternate routes around the work zone:

· South: Take Exit 79 (U.S. 21), turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Turn right onto N.C. 901 North and take the ramp to get back onto I-77 at mile marker 65.

· North: Take Exit 65 (N.C. 901), turn right and turn left onto U.S. 21 North. Take ramp on left to re-access I-77 at mile marker 79.
