Boone Police Arrest Man On Local Road After Pointing Gun At Employee Of Local Business

On October 29, 2015, at approximately 2:00 AM, Boone Police responded to Café Portofino, 970 Rivers Street, for a report of a man brandishing a handgun.

The suspect had pointed the gun at an employee of the business. As the first officer arrive, he was notified that the suspect had just left the business in a vehicle traveling west on Rivers Street. The officer located the vehicle and stopped it near the intersection of Poplar Grove Road and Poplar Grove Road Connector.

Kenneth Chase Franks, 25 years-of-age, of Race Track Drive, Bunn, NC, was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun, Misdemeanor Driving While Impaired, and Misdemeanor Expired Registration Violation.

Mr. Franks was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate where a $1500 secured bond was set pending a December 17, 2015, appearance in District Court.
