A show of support from over 1,000 miles away is making the rounds on social media.
Boone High School, located in Boone Iowa, recently performed the Watauga High School fight song as a show of support after the devastation from Hurricane Helene.
Eric Hanson from TV station KCCI posted the video on Tuesday. In his description Hanson said:
“This fight song in Boone, IA is a message of support to Boone, NC.
Hurricane Helene hit that city hard.
Since they share town names, students in the IowaBoone are trying to share love with students in the North CarolinaBoone.
Brittney Osmundson tells me, “Mr. (Christopher) Truckenmiller is not only a fantastic band teacher but he also cares deeply about others. Every week, our band performs at halftime but this week was extra special. Mr. Truckenmiller had reached out to Boone, North Carolina after Hurricane Helene decimated the east coast to see if he could offer a little normalcy and bring back some school spirit. The band practiced and performed Watauga High School's fight song and sent it off to their band director to show some support from central Iowa. Thanks for being you Mr. Truckenmiller and to all our awesome band members for their great work supporting Boone, Iowa AND Boone, NC.”
Isn’t that a great example of Iowans using their talents to show support in a very specific way?”
