A routine traffic stop in Blowing Rock led to felony drug charges and the service of two outstanding warrants after a K-9 alert on a vehicle, according to the Blowing Rock Police Department.
On Saturday, May 9, officers stopped Leah Gose, 40, of Caldwell County for an equipment violation. During the stop, officers determined that Gose had a suspended driver's license and two unserved felony warrants — one from Burke County for felony financial card theft and one from Caldwell County for felony obtaining property by false pretense.
Watauga County Sheriff's Office K-9 handler Sgt. Richardson conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle using K-9 Hattie. The dog gave a positive alert, and a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted.
Gose was arrested and charged with felony possession of psilocybin mushrooms, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of a concealed weapon. Both outstanding warrants were also served at the time of arrest.
Gose was held on a no-bond status until she appeared before a judge. Jail records show an intake date of May 9, 2026, with no release date listed.
