Blowing Rock Semi-Annual Water Line Flushing To Take Place In Early May

Last Updated on April 29, 2015 10:24 am

The Town of Blowing Rock is planning the first of its two semiannual flushing of the water lines to take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, May 5, 6 and 7. This important preventive maintenance routine will help ensure water system customers have sustained levels of high water quality by removing sediment and deposits from the more stagnant areas of the system.

Some customers may briefly experience a temporary slight discoloration of water in the immediate vicinity of the flushing activity. If this happens in your area, please run your cold-water faucet to flush out the service line to your property. For rare but occasional extended discoloration please contact Town Hall at (828) 295-5200 with your service location and they will work to clear up any issues.

The fall 2014 water line flushing occurred in November and the fall 2015 process is planned for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday November 3, 4 and 5. These 2015 dates are also printed in the Blowing Rock Community Calendar available at Town Hall.

In an effort to inform customers so they can plan accordingly, the town will be using the CodeRED automated notification system on Friday May 1. For those customers and citizens who have not yet registered for this free service, they may do so through the CodeRED link on the upper left side of  www.townofblowingrock.com. CodeRED messages may be received by telephone, email, text, or all three according to the customer’s selected preference.
