Blowing Rock Water Main Relocation Work Rescheduled for Nov. 12

Last Updated on November 4, 2013 5:12 pm

*Updated Tuesday November 5 – Temporary Water Outage Originally Scheduled for Nov. 7*

As part of the N.C. Department of Transportation’s project to widen U.S. 321 to four lanes in Blowing Rock, crews must relocate the water main on Old East Cornish Road and tie it into the Town of Blowing Rock’s water system at the old Scotchman’s gas station. This will require that they temporarily turn off the water to residents and businesses in that area on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The work was originally scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, but has been rescheduled due to forecasted rain.

Residents and businesses along the following roads should expect to be affected and should plan accordingly:

· Old East Cornish Road (across from West Cornish Road)

· West Cornish Road

· Ransom Street

· Hill Street

· Morningside Drive

· Yonahlossee Road (U.S. 221)

· Jenson Drive

· Wallingford Road

· Green Street

· Mayview Drive

· Norwood Circle

· The Cone Condominiums

Tips for businesses and residents:

· Leave a cold water tap or spigot slightly open; leaving a hot water tap open may cause damage to hot water units. Seasonal residents may want to have a neighbor or caretaker check their property as well.

· Collect water in advance for use during this time.
