Dr. Charles Baker, along with the other healthcare providers in his office, joined Appalachian Regional Medical Associates to form the Baker Center for Primary Care, on November 1, 2012. While patients might see a new sign on the door and some new processes in place, the good news is that all the same providers and staff will be there to serve you.
Dr. Baker, who has cared for residents in Avery County for over 30 years, has worked diligently with other healthcare leaders in Avery County to address the concern for more primary care providers in the county. This joining of forces with Appalachian Regional Medical Associates will help address a major concern for the health of the residents of Avery County, that of sustainable, quality care for all. The plan for the center is to expand, not only the square footage of the center, but also the number of providers. Plans are underway to recruit additional physicians and mid-level providers for the Center.
“Our goal in joining forces is to create an efficient model for providing sustainable, quality primary care in Avery County”, stated Dr. Baker.
The Baker Center for Primary Care can care for someone from birth through all the stages of their life. Dr. Baker, along with Dr. David Yale, Nurse Practitioners Donna Tate and Ella Markland and Certified Nurse Midwife, Heather Jordan are pleased to welcome the newest member of the team, Dr. Amy Chidester. Dr. Chidester is a family physician with a particular interest in obstetrics and women's care. These providers are pleased to be able to continue to serve the needs of those is Avery and surrounding counties and are excited about the future of the Center.
The Baker Center for Primary Care will remain in its current location in the Sloop Medical Office Plaza on the campus of Charles A. Cannon, Jr. Memorial Hospital. For more information, please call 828-737-7711 or visit www.apprhs.org/arma/baker-center.
