Arrest Made In Stabbing Incident Involving AppState Football Player

On Wednesday, May 4, 2017, at approximately 2:28 AM, Boone police responded to 219 Crossing Way for a fight in the parking lot involving several persons.  Shortly after arriving on-scene, officers were notified by Watauga Medical Center that a subject had been brought to the emergency department suffering from a stab wound.  The victim, Teh’Ron Fuller, 21 years-of-age, reported that he had been stabbed in the parking lot of 219 Crossing Way.  Mr. Fuller is an Appalachian State University student and a member of the Appalachian State football team.  Mr. Fuller is currently at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center receiving treatment for his injuries.

 As a result of the investigation, Malik Jaleel Simpson, 23 years-of-age, of Crossing Way, Boone, has been arrested and charged with one count of Felonious Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.  Mr. Simpson was given a $50,000 secured bond pending a June 2, 2017, court appearance in Watauga District Court.

During the investigation, it has been determined that this incident was part of a much larger fight involving multiple people.  The investigation is continuing.
