Another earthquake was recorded near Sparta in Alleghany County on Saturday, marking the fourth one in less than a month.
This quake measured 2.2 magnitude and was centered 4.1 miles south-southeast of Sparta, 26.9 miles west of Mount Airy, and 36.5 miles east-northeast of Boone at 4:44 am, according to the United States Geological Survey.
