  • WHAT…Freezing rain. Snow and sleet may mix in at times. Total
    ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch, with locally higher
    amounts on the eastern facing slopes along the Blue Ridge
    Escarpment.
  • WHERE…Avery, Mitchell, Yancey, northwestern portions of
    Caldwell, Burke, and McDowell Counties.
  • WHEN…From midnight tonight to noon EST Sunday.
  • IMPACTS…Icing may create slippery conditions on roads, bridges
    and sidewalks. The weight of the snow and ice on tree limbs and
    power lines could produce isolated outages.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Light snow and sleet accumulations are
    possible, with freezing rain being the main precipitation type in
    areas below freezing.
