…WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY…

  • WHAT…For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow. Snow accumulations
    up to 4 inches with locally higher amounts above 3500 feet. For
    the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills expected. Wind
    chills as low as 15 below zero on Friday.
  • WHERE…Portions of southwest and west central Virginia and
    northwest North Carolina.
  • WHEN…For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 7 AM EST Friday.
    For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 4 AM to 1 PM EST Friday.
  • IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
    conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold
    wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not
    taken.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Northwest winds will gust up to 40 mph
    along the ridges Friday morning which will result in blowing
    snow and reduced visibilities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities…and use caution while driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when strong winds will combine
with cold temperatures for several hours to create dangerously
cold conditions for exposed skin.

Use caution while outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and
gloves.
