BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State opens the 2019 football season Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium with a 3:30 p.m. home game against East Tennessee State.

With the excitement surrounding the Mountaineers' home opener and construction in the stadium area, please make plans to arrive early and stay late. Your patience will be helpful and much-appreciated in making it a great day and season for everyone involved.

To help all guests prepare for their game day experience, the App State athletics program is providing a comprehensive list of enhancements and adjustments for the 2019 season. The list includes:

With campus and stadium construction eliminating the Stadium Lot, we are unveiling several new and updated game day parking lots for the 2019 season.

We thank you for all of your patience during this time of progress, and you can click HERE for a complete map of game day lots with their official names, including directions for arriving to and exiting each lot. Those directions will help with the postgame traffic flow shown below:

In addition to on-campus parking lots and decks, the town of Boone has information that's available by clicking HERE, and click HERE for the AppalCART game day bus routes.

Stadium gates will open two hours before kickoff (at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday) for all ticket holders, and members of the Student Yosef Club can enter the stadium starting at 1:15 p.m. Fans arriving early to their seats for Game 1 will be able to watch a condensed videoboard replay of App State's historic upset win against Michigan from 2007.

The replay is part of a weekend celebration for hall of fame coach Jerry Moore. Scheduled to participate in the pregame coin toss, he will be recognized during football alumni reunion festivities before Saturday's game and also be a featured guest at the 2019 App State Athletics Hall of Fame breakfast Saturday morning.

The 2019 season marks the 30th anniversary of Moore's arrival at App State. To give in support of the Jerry Moore plaza and statue fund, click HERE or contact Suzette Mauney at or 828-457-4170. For tickets to the Hall of Fame breakfast and ceremony, which starts at 8:30 a.m. with a cost of $25, you can contact Dominic Parisi at or 828-262-3108.

With construction taking place where the West Gate plaza has been located, fans are encouraged to arrive early with the stadium gates opening two hours before kickoff.

Fans approaching the stadium from Rivers Street/by walking up Stadium Drive are encouraged to use the East Gate entrance. Fans with seats on the West side can enter through the East gate and proceed to the West side by circling the South end (where the videoboard is located).

There will be more narrow entries at a revamped West Gate (near the same location as in the past, but smaller) as well as at the Upper West Gate staircase that begins close to the Sofield Indoor Practice Facility and descends toward the concourse ramp on the West side. The West Gate will include lanes for App State students, West side ticket holders, club/suite ticket holders and player/guest will call.

There is an area for ticket sales and will call at the northeast corner of the stadium, near The Rock landmark, that opens at 11:30 a.m. Check below for a map of stadium entrances for fans:

Join the App State cheerleaders and the Marching Mountaineers for the Mountaineer Walk that takes place 3 hours, 15 minutes before kickoff, or at 12:15 p.m. for a 3:30 p.m. game.

The Mountaineer Walk will begin at Roess Dining Hall (aka Central), continue along Rivers Street and proceed through the tunnel exit closest to Stadium Drive.

Below is the map for the Mountaineer Walk route:

Appalachian State will implement alcohol sales at Kidd Brewer Stadium beginning with the home opener against East Tennessee State.

Beer will be available for purchase at 18 points of sale spread over six different locations – three in the East concourse, two in the West concourse and one in the South end zone behind the videoboard – and served by Red Moon Catering and Reid's Catering. See concessions map by clicking HERE.

Service begins with the opening of main gates, two hours prior to kickoff, and ends at the completion of the third quarter.

All patrons will be required to produce valid identification, which will be checked at the point of sale during each transaction.

Per state law, patrons 21 years of age or older will be permitted to purchase a maximum of one alcoholic beverage per transaction with valid identification.

Patrons will not be permitted to leave the stadium with alcohol purchased within the venue.

Law enforcement and contracted security staff will monitor the concourse and seating areas for underage drinking, beverage pass-offs and problematic patrons or situations.

Public service announcements about drinking responsibly will be shown on the videoboard and announced via the stadium's public address system.

Policies and procedures will be subject to change and modification as the process evolves.

Appalachian State's clear bag policy (full info here) remains in effect for all ticketed events in Kidd Brewer Stadium. Because of construction, there will be no merchandise stand, beer garden or pregame radio show set near the stadium gates, but clear bags will remain available for purchase.

The policy is intended to enhance patron safety and expedite entry into Kidd Brewer Stadium by reducing the time required searching bags at stadium gates. This policy aligns with other clear bag policies from NCAA FBS institutions and the National Football League.

App State athletics encourages all fans to adhere to the clear bag policy and leave unauthorized items at home or in their cars.

Items prohibited in Kidd Brewer Stadium include:

            • outside alcoholic beverages
            • coolers or containers
            • artificial noisemakers
            • pets (with the exception of service animals)
            • umbrellas
            • explosives and firearms
            • folding chairs
            • outside food and beverages.

On Saturday, before the home opener, App State Athletics will say thank you to fans by handing out 10,000 free ice cream treats from Mars at approximately 1:30 p.m. in various game day parking lots and at the gates for fans entering the stadium early.

• Campus parking lots will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
• The ticket and will call area outside the northeast corner of the stadium, by The Rock landmark, will open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
• The Mountaineer Walk will be held 3 hours, 15 minutes before kickoff.
• Stadium gates will open two hours before kickoff.

Fans can take note that the player entrance tunnel will have a different look during the 2019 season. There will be an exciting new intro video to pump up and entertain fans as well as a new pregame fan engagement effort.

Fans will be invited to join the team on the field after the first home game of the season (Aug. 31 vs. East Tennessee State) and the final regular season home game (Nov. 23 vs. Texas State).

There are plans in place for the televisions in the concourse areas on the West side to show a live feed of the game action this season, with the game broadcast replacing menu screens.

Additional televisions will be available for viewing in the club level area on the fifth floor of Kidd Brewer Stadium this year. The fifth floor also has new carpet and new, fresh paint for the 2019 season.

ATMs are available on the Appalachian State campus at Kidd Brewer Stadium (East and West sides), Trivette Hall, Plemmons Student Union and on Rivers Street across from the parking deck.

Saturday will involve a Hall of Fame/Jerry Moore celebration, as the 2019 Hall of Fame class is being inducted Saturday morning.
The remaining promotions for the 2019 home schedule are:
• A White Out is scheduled for the Sept. 7 home game against Charlotte.
• Family Weekend is scheduled for the Sept. 28 home game against Coastal Carolina.
• Homecoming is scheduled for the Oct. 19 home game against ULM.
