Wednesday Night Incident Leads To Discover Of Two Deceased Persons, Person In Custody

Update 1:38pm Friday April 12 – A 17-year-old has been charged in the double homicide. More details at this link. 

Update 4:05pm – has learned that a 17-year-old has been taken into custody in Johnson County Tennesse. The deceased male and female had eight children, some of whom they were fostering. The suspect lived at the home. The investigation is ongoing including by the SBI.

On Wednesday, April 10th, 2019, at 10:32PM, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1174 Orchard Road in Deep Gap in reference to a suspicious incident.

While officers were on scene, deputies discovered a deceased adult male and a deceased adult female.

The incident appears to have been domestic in nature, however the investigation is currently ongoing.

Person(s) of interest in the investigation of the incident have been identified and are in custody.

There is no reason to believe that the public is in any danger.
