Consecutive days of high temperatures near 80 degrees and higher will be the weather story for the High Country over the next several days.
Forecast highs around 80 degrees for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before lower 80s for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Though not totally uncommon for the month of May to experience 80 degree and plus days, it's not the norm for consecutive days. Looking back at the history for the month:
May 2018 had three consecutive days – 80 on May 13, 83 on May 14 and 82 on May 15.
No 80 degree days at all in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2009 and 2008.
One day only in 2013, 2012, 2010, 2005
May 2014 had three days but not back to back to back.
85 degrees on May 31, 2011 along with one other 80 degree day.
Back to back twice in 2007 – May 2 & 3, May 30 & 31.
Three consecutive days in 2006 – 82 May 29, 83 May 30, 82 May 31
Four consecutive days in May 2004 – 82 May 21, 84 on May 22, 23 and 24.
