The High Country, along with much of the region, will feel a major warm up this week as high pressure moves into the area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says in a Monday morning briefing, “For this time of year, this dome of high pressure will produce temperatures comparable to that seen in late June.”

Forecast high temperatures on Tuesday are in the upper 70s to lower 80s across the mountains. That's around 14 to 18 degrees warmer than normal, according to NWS. High temperatures on Wednesday could even be a little warmer depending on the amount of clouds and showers, NWS notes.

The dry and warm weather is expected to last until Thursday and then showers and thunderstorms enter the weather picture. Rain/storm chances stand currently at 40% for Thursday and Thursday night, 60% Friday and Friday night and 40% for Saturday and Sunday.
