The unveiling of the Doc and Merle Watson mural in Downtown Boone took place on Saturday.
Remarks were given by Lane Moody, Downtown Boone Development Coordinator and by Dr. Gary Boye, Erneston Music Library Coordinator and Curator of the Max Smith Collection.
The Downtown Boone Development Association, in partnership with the Watauga Arts Council, contracted artist Scott Nurkin to paint the mural on Howard Street. This mural is part of the North Carolina Musicians Mural Trail, a program through the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDCR).
