The Watauga County Veterans Memorial was unveiled on Wednesday morning to kick off Independence Day festivities in Boone.
March 17, 2018 marked the two-year anniversary of the project, which was spearheaded by the High Country Chapter of Military Officers Association of America (HCCMOAA). Preparations for the construction began in late April. The memorial was designed and constructed by local artist Suzie Hallier and is titled “Time and Honor”.
The memorial, located in downtown Boone near Town Hall, is a fully accessible public memorial for those Veterans who have served and are currently serving our country and to recognize the sacrifices they have made in protecting the freedoms we have today.
