“US 421 between Boone and Mountain City is OFFICIALLY OPEN!” That's the caption Maymead Materials lead off with in a social media post.
“Earlier this week crews began paving the final sections of roadway and TDOT officially announced it open today. This has been a monumental undertaking and we are so thankful for our many incredible partners on this project including Baker Construction Services Inc, Summers Taylor Construction, Guardian Retention Systems and numerous others.”, the post went on to say.
That section of road suffered extreme damage from Hurricane Helene and has been unrepair ever since.
