* At 737 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated multiple heavy rain showers
that will progress northeast over mainly the eastern part of the
county. These will cause urban and small stream flooding in the
advisory area.

and Sugar Grove.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT THURSDAY…
The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
* Portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia, including
the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe,
Surry, Watauga, and Wilkes. In southwest Virginia, Carroll and
Grayson.
* Until 4 AM EDT Thursday
* Abundant tropical moisture across the region will result in
additional showers and thunderstorms into early Thursday
morning. Rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches in spots
with locally higher amounts possible.
* Flash flooding will be possible in areas of torrential
rainfall. Flash flooding of streams and creeks may develop
very quickly under these circumstances.
