Wind Advisory.
2:48pm – Brookshire Road, Bamboo Road, Roby Greene Bridge, and the Bridge at the Moose Lodge are currently shut down due to localized flooding. Heavy rains like the ones we are experiencing today can rapidly create dangerous driving conditions. Watauga County is not experiencing anything abnormal in regards to our usual flood zones.
Emergency Services would like to remind everyone that when driving in wet conditions, slow down and allow more time while traveling. Be alert and prepared to make sudden stops due to possible debris on the roadways. Always keep in mind, “Turn around; don't drown,” when driving in standing water. It is better to take the long way home than to be stranded on the road or risk injury. Continue to monitor local media and news resources for continuous updates regarding weather and road closures.
